Call for Volunteer Stewards for Brixton Splash 2015

Each year the success of our event is down to a small group of vital volunteers who provide the vital link between the many visitors, locals and revelers in the heart of  Brixton and our professional security and events team.  These volunteers are often called the friendly face of Brixton Splash.  Could you be one of those volunteers?

If you are confident that you can work with our team from 10 am – 8 pm on 2 August 2015 to ensure that our up to 20,000 visitors have a wonderful day.

We are particularly keen to welcome people who are keen to get into the events industry, even those with little or no experience we will support you to make the transition into working in events & help you make contacts in the industry.  We will prioritise applications for Brixton residents.

This opportunity will take just a few days of your summer & could be the starting point for a new career. Our team will support you to gain vital new skills & go on to help us delivery a successful and safe event in your local community.

Drop in Question & Answer session for anyone who wants to know more about volunteering at Brixton Splash TBC

Compulsory Training Session TBC.  All Volunteer Stewards MUST attend these sessions.

Finally, if you are already an experienced person in any of the following fields & would like to support Brixton Splash & could give us some time over the summer whether that is an hour a week or a weekend somewhere we are keen to speak to anyone with the following experience:

  • Events Delivery
  • Public Relations
  • Volunteer Management
  • Film making

Trade and Exhibit

Brixton Splash offers the opportunity to trade and engage with approximately 20,000 people. The food concessions and arts and craft stalls are always one of the most popular areas of the event and 2015 will be no different.

FOOD TRADERS

Brixton’s street festival would not be complete without the vibrant mix of food traders that we have at the event each year. If you would like to have a food stall at the event please email: trade@brixtonsplash.org

CRAFT MARKET

The craft market has been a huge success growing every year and will be bigger than ever in 2014. Also this year we will once again be developing the area all around the Brix and St Matthews Church to offer an Arts and Family Village to provide a focus for visitors with families. Pitches are in high demand and are given on a first come first serve basis so register you interest now: trade@brixtonsplash.org

Brixton Splash 2015

Brixton Town centre: Atlantic Road, Pope Road, Coldharbour Lane, Effra Road, Electric Avenue, Electric Lane, Rushcroft Road, Saltoun Road, St Matthew’s Peace Gardens, Windrush Square. This year’s event will be bigger than ever featuring everything you know and love and some new and exciting developments exclusively for 2015. Brixton Splash will again feature a variety of sound systems on and around Atlantic Road and Coldharbour Lane with a main stage on Windrush Square. The main stage will continue to support local talent with music styles including but not limited to Soul, Pop, Ska and Reggae through to dancehall and roots music. The Peace Gardens Arts & Family Village will be further developed with more free workshops, activities and arts and crafts.

A huge thank you from Brixton Splash

Brixton Splash 2014 was the biggest and best ever. The Board of Brixton Splash are delighted that every element of the event was so well received.

The day itself wow, what can you say! So many people, such a wonderful atmosphere, everyone in good spirits, laughing, dancing, enjoying the music, the arts & crafts, the DJs everything we had put on seemed to go down so well. And of course the sun shined on us to!

So we just wanted to say a huge heartfelt thanks to all those that made it possible our small team of those who worked on Splash, our event volunteers, our volunteer stewards, our stall holders, our artists, our performers, our DJs, our sound systems our crews. Huge thanks to every single one of you for all your hard work. We couldn’t have had an event without you and we really hope you are a part of our team for 2014 to!

Then of course there is all the businesses that supported us, thank you to The Market House, Walkerwood, Hootananny, KA, Virgin, O2, McDonalds, Up on The Roof, Our Big Gig, The Art Council, Satay Bar, Deli Jerk and last but not least Greggs Bakery we really couldn’t have done it without you. We hope you enjoyed working with us and being part of such an hugely positive and successful community street festival. We hope you share that experience with us in 2014 and that you will help us grow that network of vital business support to ensure the event remains safe & successful in the future.

We are also thankful for the support of a wide range of journalists and local and international media representatives and will write more fully sharing those stories with you soon.

And finally, thank you to the community of Brixton for helping make the day such a great one. We are all still smiling so although we think we might have got to the point where we have achieved our original aim of turning Brixton from infamous to famous we hope you agree we should carry on having a great big Brixton Splash every year… see you on 2 August 2015!
