Brixton Splash is a cultural explosion held annually on the first Sunday of August every year. The successful Street festival has grown each year, now in 2013 our eighth year the event will include a main stage in Windrush Square featuring mainly local talent, plus 4 street soundsystems playing everything from Reggae and RnB to House and Jungle for the first time this year the vent will also feature a soundsystem on Station Road playing World and Latin music. We also have an extended arts and crafts area in St Matthew’s Peace Garden featuring free workshops and bouncy castles for children and families to enjoy. It truly is an advert for multiculturalism, with something for everyone to enjoy and participate in.
Brixton is an area with a wealth of artistic talent, and when you visit the event there is every chance that the people you see on stage will go on to become the next big thing. For example, in 2010, Katy B headlined the event performing with the Illersapiens. We have also had appearances over the years from many other locally based stars such as Alabama 3 and this year we are really delighted to have two official afterparties. One at The Lambeth, Up on the Roof will feature octogenarian DJ Derek in possibly his last official performance whilst Plan b host the afterparty for our World/Latin soundstage hosted by DJ Ch!co.
