Our Costs

Brixton Splash is a not-for-profit community organisation presently run by volunteers. Every penny we raise goes into putting on this great street carnival and supporting our outreach programme.

It’s expensive enough to put on a festival when you are putting on a profit making festival and charging an entrance fee. For a free festival it is so much harder.  There was an article in the The Guardian newspaper not too long ago about the hidden costs of putting on ticketed festivals, it makes for interesting reading:

We have to pay for everything to do with the cost of putting on this carnival, these costs include but are not limited to:

  3. Parking bay suspensions (Lambeth)
  4. Traffic orders (Lambeth)
  5. Barriers
  6. Stage hire
  7. Security
  8. Waste management (rubbish bill) (Lambeth)
  9. Toilets
  10. Security
  11. First aid
  12. Health & Safety
