Brixton Splash Arts & Family Village & Outreach

In 2012 with the support of the Arts Council and Lambeth Council two new strands, Arts and Family, were developed to provide Arts activities for children, young people, families and the elderly via outreach programmes and at our festival day.

Brixton Splash’s outreach programme particularly targets those disengaged and disadvantaged in the local community and those who lack adequate access to the arts. Our ethos is ‘To educate and inspire’.

Our Aims and Objectives for this delivery are summarised as follows:

  • To develop the Arts and Family Village and programmes to include more schools and community organisations thereby engaging more participants in creative and cultural experiences
  • To broaden our Arts outreach to engage with more BME pupils and those with EAL and/or special needs or disabilities
  • To expand and develop our schools and intergenerational outreach to an all year round delivery
  • To develop long term relationships with schools and community centres in Lambeth to enable them to increase their creative curriculum/enrichment programmes
  • To develop a robust delivery programme that can underpin Brixton Splash Arts going forward in terms of viability and sustainability
  •  To develop the Arts and Family areas at the Splash Festival to broaden and maintain a diverse appeal for festival goers
  •  To remain at all times loyal to the Brixton Splash ethos of enhancing community cohesion in Brixton and Lambeth through arts, heritage, music and food
